WaveBox® Wins International Design Award
CHICAGO — In its inaugural appearace at the International Home & Housewares Show, the WaveBox® portable microwave was honored with a product design award for its innovation, aesthetics and impact on the marketplace. The WaveBox® was one of 25 products selected from more than 40,000 at the show for a “Design Defined” award from the International Housewares Association.
“The purpose of the Design Defined program is to bring attention to those companies that have placed a premium on quality design,” said Phil Brandl, president of the International Housewares Association, which sponsors the annual housewares show.
Products at the show were evaluated by Design Finders, teams of young designers, experienced practitioners and educators from the Interdisciplinary Product Development Program at the University of Illinois-Chicago. Products were evaluated for design innovation, appearance, environmental responsibility, market impact and benefit to end users.
“It is a tremendous honor to be selected for the Design Defined award in our first year at the show,” said Tim Frank, inventor of the WaveBox. “It is a powerful validation of the tremendous feedback we’ve received from consumers.”
